Rhubarb Simple Syrup is an easy recipe made with fresh garden rhubarb. Great for cocktails, drinks, dessert, or topping for ice cream or pancakes.
I have had lots of rhubarb this year. After I harvested it, a week later I now have more growing! So I have been doing lots of experiments. I really love this rhubarb simple syrup! It is super easy to make and is a great addition to drinks and cocktails like my Rhubarb Gin Cocktail. It has a unique and wonderful flavor. How to Make Rhubarb Simple Syrup
- Start by making the rhubarb simple syrup. Heat a small saucepan on medium heat and add water and sugar. Stir to dissolve the sugar. Once the mixture comes to a boil, add chopped rhubarb. Cook for 10 minutes.
- Reduce heat to simmer for 10 more minutes.
- Strain out the rhubarb using a strainer. Let cool before using or storing.
How to use Rhubarb Syrup
- Cocktails- like my Rhubarb Gin Cocktail
- Drinks- Italian soda, tea, lemonade, club soda
- Dessert- cakes, ice cream
- Breakfast- oatmeal, yogurt, pancakes, or waffles
Can I Infuse it with Other Flavors?
Some flavors rhubarb would go well with are; strawberry, vanilla, mint, basil, and citrus.
Storage
Store rhubarb syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one month.
