Apple Crumble Pie with Chai Spices is the perfect pie for fall baking and holidays. Sliced apples tossed in warming chai spices and vanilla then topped with a crumb pie topping.

Apple Crumble Pie with Chai Spices

Apple crumble pie (also known as Dutch apple pie) starts with a pie crust, a cinnamon apple filling, and a crumble topping. I wanted to add warming chai spices to the tart Granny Smith apples such as cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves, and nutmeg, as well as vanilla. The apples have so much amazing flavor! And an amazing brown sugar crumble topping. Top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for the perfect fall or holiday pie!

I recommend using a deep pie dish. I love my Sweese deep pie dish!

FAQ’S

What is the Crumble on Apple Pie Made of?

Apple pie crumble topping aka streusel topping is super easy to make with just 5 ingredients. Mix the flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt then cut in the butter until crumbles form. I use a similar mixture to top my Overnight Brioche French Toast Casserole.

How Many Apples for Apple Pie?

I used 5 large granny smith apples for this recipe. I also used a deeper pie plate. You may need to use 4 apples if using a standard pie plate to prevent it from spilling over.

Gluten-Free Apple Crumble Pie

To make this apple crumble pie gluten-free use a gluten-free pie crust and gluten-free all-purpose flour. For the crust, I recommend Gefen gluten-free pie crust which is a refrigerated pie crust. Or you can you a gluten-free boxed pie crust mix. And substitute gluten-free flour wherever flour is used in the recipe.
