What’s an Espresso Martini Made of?
A classic recipe is made of espresso, vodka, and Kahlua. We have made a few ingredient adjustments and are making this espresso martini with baileys to elevate this recipe.
Espresso Martini Ingredients
- Coffee- Espresso gives amazing flavor. Espresso is recommended but if you don’t have an espresso machine, use cold brew or very strong coffee.
- Irish Cream- I just love the creaminess and sweetness Irish cream adds to this cocktail.
- Vodka- I recommend vanilla-flavored vodka as it adds sweetness with vanilla flavor so you don’t have to add simple syrup to the drink. But regular vodka can be used.
- Kahlua- Kahlua adds more of that signature coffee flavor with rum.
How to Make an Espresso Martini
- Brew the espresso.
- Add ice to a cocktail shaker. Pour in the espresso, Irish cream, vodka, and Kahlua.
- Put the lid on and shake vigorously. Strain the ice and pour into a martini glass then top with coffee beans. Serve.
What Alcohol is Best for Espresso Martini?
Vodka is a main component in this martini recipe. I love the flavor of vanilla vodka. We also use Kahlua or you can use another brand of coffee liqueur. Bailey’s or any brand of Irish Cream can be used.
How to Make Espresso Martini Frothy?
First, the fresh espresso gives the cocktail a little froth. Next, you combine the ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake, shake, shake to create that creamy foam top.
Variations
- You can use regular vodka if you don’t want a sweet drink.
- Omit the Baileys and keep it traditional.
- Use cold brew or strong coffee if you don’t have an espresso machine.
