Asian Style Pork Burgers are grilled with Asian flavors and topped with cooling cucumbers, spicy jalapenos, and sweet/spicy slaw. A flavorful burger recipe with the perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and salty flavors.
This week’s nap time project was moving and re-potting some of our house plants. One of our plants is massive! It’s called a Schefflera and is probably 10 years old. It was at my mother-in-law’s office at work for years and we have had it for a couple of years now. The reason for the move; it was touching the ceiling which caused the new sprouts to die. So we moved it to a higher ceiling area in the house. I think it will be happy in its new home with lots of space and plenty of sunshine!
After all that plant moving and re-potting, we were hungry so I made these Asian Pork Burgers. The pork patties have such a great salty/sweet flavor. The slaw has a lime flavor with a little heat and it’s topped with freshly sliced cucumbers, jalapenos, and some cilantro. I love these on brioche buns! But of course, you can use any kind of bun or wrap it in lettuce for a low-carb meal. It makes such a flavorful, quick lunch or dinner.
How to Make Grilled Asian Style Pork Burgers
- In a medium bowl, combine hoisin sauce, coconut aminos, sesame oil, sriracha, and garlic.
- Add ground pork and completely coat in the sauce using a spoon or your fingers.
- Form meat into 4 equal-sized patties. Pack the meat firm so it holds together while cooking.
- Once the grill is preheated, transfer patties to the grill. Grill 5-7 minutes, flip and continue grilling until meat is cooked through with no pink with an internal temperature of 160 degrees F. Alternatively, it can be made on the skillet or grill pan.
Slaw for Asian Burgers
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine mayo (I used avocado oil mayo), lime juice, sugar, chili paste, salt, and pepper.
- Add cabbage and carrot mix and toss to coat.
Assemble the Burgers
Place meat patty on toasted buns. Top with slaw, then cucumbers, jalapenos, and cilantro. Serve.
Asian Style Pork Burgers Tips
- Make sure meat is fully thawed before forming into patties.
- Pack meat firmly into patties to ensure the meat stays together.
Can I use Ground Chicken or Turkey, or Beef for This Recipe?
I have only made this recipe with ground pork, but you can substitute any ground meat if desired.
What is the Safe Internal Temperature for Pork?
I always recommend using a meat thermometer when grilling. The safe internal temperature to eat ground pork is 160 degrees F.
